Watching U-verse TV

I cannot log in to the verse app, it asks for a verse user-id and I have never had one. I always log in with email

When we try to fast forward, rewind or pause a message comes up that says the dvr is either unplugged or not working. What do I need to do. Thanks

I have the Uverse app on my iPhone and iPad, which works pretty good most of the time. But is there a way to watch Uverse programming on my desktop computer?
