I was told when I cancelled my Direct TV streaming that I could still use the device I paid for to use apps. Just recently, like a week ago I think it updated because now when I boot it, i get the sign in to direct tv prompt and I can't seem to bypass it. Do I own a brick now?

I have a LG 47LS4500 TV that is not a smart tv. What exactly do I need to set this tv up to Direct TV stream? Also, I am an elder who is not up to date on 'technical language' so give it to me straight and easy to understand. Thank you.
