Streaming Setup & Equipment

I want to get directv and use my Denon AVR receiver. Right now I have att uverse and wish to change to Directv. My wiring now goes from my router to the cab/sat on the Denon then out from ARC to the tv's ARC. I use a logitech Harmony elite as a remote for everything which is very convenient.

Has there been an update to Direct TV features to allow reduction in data usage? ie. drop picture resolution from p1080 down to p420 or p720?

So I am seeing that you need a streaming box and remote that you have to purchase for the app to work properly. This was not disclosed when I signed up for the free trail. So is the case and do you have to have one for each TV and what is the cost.
