DIRECTV STREAM Setup & Equipment

What is ARS service and is it a requirement for DIRECTV streaming. I am confused.

I followed the instructions, pressing both dash and apps, got the two flashing blue lights, then pressed and released the red button, then held down the fast forward and rewind buttons.  Nothing happened on the TV.    Do I need the box?

I recently canceled my directv stream service and am in the stages of boxing up 2 of the osprey units to find out that the remote(s) are missing. I have 14 days to drop off to the local USPS.  What is the fee for the remotes that they’re going to charge me? It’s for the osprey C71 KW-40

Directv streaming service needs to make an app remote to use with appletv and android tv’s if we choose not to use directv streaming boxes.
