Cancel Direct TV, reinstall U Verse

I had Direct TV installed and do not like it. I want to go back to U Verse and all the equipment is still here. No one seems to want to tell me if the U Verse has been canceled or not, or if I can go back. I have 2 accounts I want changed. Any ideas?
