Cancel Direct TV, reinstall U Verse
I had Direct TV installed and do not like it. I want to go back to U Verse and all the equipment is still here. No one seems to want to tell me if the U Verse has been canceled or not, or if I can go back. I have 2 accounts I want changed. Any ideas?

When you installed DirecTV you would have started with a 24 month service agreement. So if you do cancel, you get an Early Cancellation Fee (ECF) valued at $20 for each month remaining of that agreement.
To see if you can stop the cancellation of U-Verse, or reinstate if already canceled, you have to call U-Verse. Be prepared it is a legacy service, not accepting new customers, so it is possible that cancellation might not be reversible.
DirecTV and U-Verse are two separate providers so you must contact each separately.

U-verse and DIRECTV are products owned by the same company (DIRECTV), but AT&T still handles all customer support, including cancellations and sales, for U-verse TV.
Call AT&T about U-verse: 800-288-2020
Call DIRECTV about DIRECTV (800-531-5000) / DIRECTV STREAM (888-429-4023).
Just starting DIRECTV service does not automatically cancel U-verse TV, so you may still have access to it.
Once you complete the DIRECTV Satellite service install, you will owe an Early Termination Fee. If you got stream, you might have wiggle room.

If the equipment is still there, you should just be able to plug it in and see what happens.
If it works, you're good... except for that early termination fee, as already mentioned. (There may or may not be a "money back" period.)
If it doesn't work, it probably means your U-Verse service was canceled. As said, because U-Verse isn't accepting new customers, if your service was canceled, you 99.999% can't go back.
AT&T is out of the TV business, except for billing U-Verse customers and handling their technical service.
DirecTV is selling two TV services. One has satellite and the other streams over the internet, similar to Fubo or YouTube TV.
