Watching on Satellite

I am trying to get my Bose sound bar to work and have been in trouble. Where does the optical cable go, TV to speaker or TV to DirecTV control box, or control box to speaker?

I purchased a movie some time ago and have watched it several times. I was going to watch it today but the movie magically disappeared from my Purchase List. Any ideas how this happens?? James
