Watching U-verse TV

I am traveling and want to see my local channels on my U-verse app on my iPhone but am unable to do so. Why?

The only question I see on this thread is about being unable to watch Starz on the streaming App, when it's included in our plan. The question was never answered. Blaming it on the Direct TV buyout doesn't help me activate the app.
