Trouble Recording New Jeopardy Eps as a Series on DVR

Ever since Jeopardy reruns started airing on ABC in the morning as of a month or two ago, my AT&T/DirecTV DVR will no longer record the new evening shows as a series. I have to remember to go into the guide every two weeks and set a manual recording for every episode on each weekday evening. Even doing that, it screws up a lot of times and records the morning reruns and the Game Show Network reruns, but not the new evening episodes I want. This is further complicated because the DirecTV guide always has the episode number for the morning reruns wrongly listed with the same episode number as the evening new episode, which could be why the DVR keeps getting confused as to which episode to record.  Is anyone else having this issue? If so, have you come up with a work-around? TIA.

What DVR model?

Are you a streaming or satellite customer?

Since you mentioned your DVR is recording those unwanted morning shows and also the Game Show Network broadcasts, it sounds like it’s set to record all episodes. Do you actually want to do that? If not, I would suggest going into your upcoming recordings section and taking the steps to cancel the series recording.

From there, I would ordinarily suggest going to the evening show in your guide and setting up a series recording for new episodes only. However, as it seems like your local station might not be properly providing the listing information to DirecTV, I wouldn’t trust them to get the new episode thing right. So, you might want to stick with setting up those manual recordings and hope that they won’t get messed up since all other Jeopardy scheduled recordings have been deleted from your DVR.

I should also point out that new episodes of Jeopardy don’t actually start until next week.

Is this with the streaming service? If yes, this is a real problem that has been discussed here before. There is not a way to record only new episodes on a specific channel. So it will record on the cloud DVR old, but flagged as new episodes from every possible channel. This make recording some shows, like The Price is Right, Jeopardy, Family Feud, and Saturday Night Live very difficult. You have to select specific episodes one at a time from the guide and not record the series.

I’m a streaming customer and having the same issue, I missed the very last episode of last season because of it too :(

I tried deleting/recreating the series recording, selecting the evening time slot new episodes only, but it continues to use the morning slot for all future recordings instead. Super frustrating.
is there any resolution to this yet?

@nycharry I’d probably start by giving up on a series recording and deleting any and all of that. Try setting up a recording of just the evening episode only. (Not series, just episode. Might be necessary to do this every day.)

In an attempt to head off the morning show being recorded, wait until after it airs, then set up the evening recording.

Good luck.
