Kalamazoo MI WWMT provider feed terrible

DTV, please check your WWMT CBS feed.   It's terrible, it's not my equipment.   Same happens at friends houses.   Happens on satellite or streaming, doesn't matter.

I contacted WWMT Channel 3 engineering on

7-21-25 and the engineer told me:

The equipment they are using to receive and process our signal is not fully compatible with our broadcast standard. We have tried to work with them, but ultimately, they need to adjust/upgrade their receive equipment to be more compatible with our broadcast signal.

So unfortunately, I am not holding my breath waiting for a solution.

This has been going on for over a year.  We had a technician out to our house and did work on the dish twice and now have a new genie box and still the WWMT feed is terrible  You can't watch any show without constant freezing and skipping in the program!

Working on or replacing the box is not going to help. It's a problem with the feed coming from WWMT. Lots of people have reported this.

I would be proactive at this point and notify the station. Perhaps they may be able to restart the feed.

Sadly, DirecTV is not allowed to deliver a different station. You can thank the FCC regulations. Be sure to notify the local station about the issue, too.

@DIRECTVhelp please see @garymaynard post above.   I see no way to quote posts here, but evidently WWMT is aware of the problem,  and indicates this is a Directv feed problem.    As it's been going on for over a year, please dont tell me you are now looking into it.   Please fix!

DIRECTV help- This is a DIRECTV problem that you will not fix. It’s been going on for a year. If you have no plans to correct the feed issues with WWMT then you should make another CBS feed available. ( Don’t want to hear FCC restrictions either)

Have you just given up caring for the percentage of people who are still willing to pay for your services and haven’t cord cut already?

If there is a technical issue on DirecTV's end, then yes they should work on getting it resolved. Personally I suspect it is a bit of both (DirecTV and the local affiliate).

As for your other request, they cannot provide you another CBS feed. Doesn't matter how much you don't want to hear it, but they are forbidden to do so per the Federal regulations as lobbied by the local affiliate channel owners. They may only provide you what is in your Designated Market Area (DMA).

I will give it a few more months,  but I won't be going through NCAA basketball with this broken feed.  It seems like a class action suit to get a discount on the past year and going forward is in order.  Sinclair in general is quickly becoming a bigger problem that may drive me away in the next weeks.
