Extend Live Sports Recordings
It is unforgivable that I cannot manually extend live sports recordings like Auto Racing & Tennis coverage.
This is a feature of most all other cloud recording systems like Youtube TV !!

We are working on a solution for those live sports. Recording the next show is a workaround, thank you bcbsncjlj. Read more about Auto Extend here

This auto-extend feature doesn't work reliably. Today it's failed - multiple college football game recordings ended at the scheduled time, even though they weren't over yet. Happened multiple times last football season also...and it sometimes fails w/Major League Baseball too.
This is on D1 football and MLB which are supposed to be supported for this feature on "available devices" - both Osprey box AND AppleTV (and since it's cloud-based I'd expect the problem to happen on all devices).
This has not been reliable for a long time, and I've seen others post complaints about it. DirecTV needs to fix make this work better.
I understand this isn't a support forum, but for others who have this problem, please contact DirecTV support and ask them to fix this. I called them today.
For any DirecTV reps monitoring this forum, please report/escalate this longstanding issue internally. Thanks!

It's great that all the World Cup matches are available in 4K.
It's not so great that recordings end after two hours and you can easily miss the conclusion of your event. I've tried the "record series" function for shows that follow live matches but Fox doesn't always follow a match with the same thing (World Cup Today, etc.). Now that we're in the knockout stage, matches are bound to go to extra time and penalty kicks. DirecTV users have requested solutions to this for years and we're still nowhere. This was easily solved with the original, clunky VCRs. We ought to be beyond it in 2026.
