DIRECTV is Raising The Price of Its Plans By As Much As $10 a Month & Adding $5 More a Month For Some Add-ons

This is earlier. Wonder if this will just be an off-cycle with the recent sale or if this is the new time of year for any annual price adjustment.

I received the email saying Choice is going up by 9 dollars a month. Right after they give some customers free access to Hulu/Disney+/ESPN unlimited. 

I have been a subscriber since 2016 and a legacy grandfathered subscriber. Rates have gone up to the point where I no longer value the service. I have decided to cancel at this point and seek another option. I wish all of you good luck in the future. Furthermore, I will no longer be participating in the forum. Thanks for all the memories.

I'm just going to downgrade to the Entertainment package next month. I know the Weather Channel isn't available with this package but I can buy access to their app for 2.99 a month versus saving 31 dollars by downgrading my package.

If I going to pay $150 a month for a streaming service I might as well sign up for cable tv!!!!

Streaming, satellite and cable generally work the same way: The TV providers come to agreements with the channel owners to show the channels. Because the channel owners generally ask for similar amounts of money from each TV provider per each channel, prices are going to be similar.

The biggest difference is that with streaming, you buy the equipment (avoiding monthly rental fees) and there may or may not be local taxes. You're also not paying for local employees.
