direct tv streaming records programs twice

I find it strange that series recording programs some programs get recorded twice.

What series?

What network/channel?

Some shows are on two or more networks.

A long standing annoyance. If you set up recordings through "search", it can record it from other channels, even ones you don't get.

To get around that, record via the manual method. Go into the GUIDE and press the RECORD button on the show you want: Once to record episode; twice to record series

That way it records on that channel only and just follows your series settings. The occasional issue is with "FIRST RUN" if the guide data sent to DirecTV doesn't mark an episode correctly, then you might get an extra.

Setting up a series recording thru the guide-------I have found a show will also record on two different channels that way as well.  Example: CNN and CNN international. There is an easy fix for Dtv. When you setup a series recording let the user choose which channel to record it from. I think Dtv Satellite has that feature. I know Tivo does as well.

Thanks to all. Just tried the recommended methods mentioned above. Still records twice. CNN and CNNi are the most problematic followed by HBOe and History channels. Seems to me that a simple software fix on dtv's part would solve this.

@r2har2 Yes it is a simple fix. I've been with Dtv Stream for 4 yrs and this is always how it's been. All they need to do is allow us to choose which channel a show is going to record on for series recordings.
