Delete you tube

I cannot control the content through the directv stream app to block it, and I can't block unapropriate content in the app for you tube. I need a way to delete this app off or completely shut it down.

The DirecTV Stream App is not connected to YouTube.

What streaming device are you using?

The DirecTV branded streaming device (Osprey) comes with YouTube "factory installed" (as are a number of other apps).  The factory installed apps cannot be deleted, and there is no way to disable them.  That has been an issue for a number of users who shared the concern about content (which they generally wanted to keep from children).  YouTube does offer some sort of parental control feature, but that only works when signed into a YouTube account, and I don't believe there is a way to require that.

There was a claim I saw a couple of years ago that from developer mode it was possible to disable apps, but I don't know if this was true then or now.

It's using the directv stream box drop AT&T. Even when signed into an account the content filters are junk. Even when one child still gets to shows talking about cocaine and people shooting themselves in the head. And I have tried every way possible to remove or to restrict content from the box. But even tv's are pre loaded with that junk. Even though it is a free to use service. I would like to have a choice to have it not installed.

I have a Tivo Stream 4k (android) with Dtv Stream side loaded. The device allows you disable pre-installed apps that come with it, including youtube. I"m pretty sure Firesticks don't come pre-loaded with Youtube. Not sure about Roku

This is one of the most frustrating things about the DTV Stream service. It's completely unacceptable that parents do not have the ability to control thing like this in 2022.

It's not the service, but the device that comes with the app pre-installed. Almost all devices come with some apps pre-installed. Just the way it is.
