Can't record some programs

We are unable to record some of our favorite shows like Chicago Med, Fire and PD.  We keep getting the message "Whoops, the program has already been aired, and can't be recorded anymore", even though the program is still to be aired.

What devices are you using to stream? Have you tried recording on any other devices? Like a computer or tablet.  Is this happening only with these shows or other shows?

All we have is the box for Directv Streaming.  This allows us to record a number of shows but not others, something we can’t figure out why.

Why can some networks be recorded and not others?  It seems unreasonable that some shows could be watched yet not recorded.

We can tape news programs on NBC but can't tape Chicago Med, Fire and PD programs, which are also on NBC

We haven’t looked at other channels yet.  Thanks for taking the time to respond!

I guess AT&T or Directv has no resources to help customers in this situation

Hi Duvan,

you posted four hours ago that, as a Directv community specialist, you will be sending me a DM to gather more details about our inability to record a number of programs, and get our problem solved asap.  So far I still haven’t received a DM.

I'm having the same issue on multiple channels and programs.

I just waited on "chat" for 30 minutes, but I believe they fixed the issue.

I have the same issue with some programs saying, whoops, that program has already aired and can't be recorded. Seems it's fairly common and shouldn't be so hard to solve. Very frustrating. It wouldn't be showing in the guide if it had already aired.

Since direct tv is not interested in solving this problem, looks like we need to figure it out ourselves. For those having the same problem, have you moved your box to a different time zone like I have? I'm wondering if that is causing the problem. I'm a snowbird and take it with me.

Thread from 2024. Best to start a new thread. Describe the specifics of your situation. Include which DirecTV service you have, how you are watching, models of any boxes, troubleshooting tried, and if you've changed zip code (or entire address) on equipment or account before issue started, etc.

(also this thread is for the streaming-only services and appears some users may have satellite, so be sure you're in the right section of the forum).

As a note for snowbirds and the like, updating service address on request or deactivating/reactivating boxes for seasonal/vacation (such as leaving some at main home), no longer is how it works. Address should only be updated by a actual movers order. For two locations, especial if boxes are active at both at the same time, they each need their own account and equipment. You can suspend the entire account (up to 6 months in a 12 month period) so you only pay for that 2nd account when you're using it.

Those for temp use (RV, cabin for a few weeks, etc.) take the box, but you lose access to locals and RSNs if you travel outside your home spot beam.

Taxes on account are based on your service address and cannot be split between multiple locations. Some areas even charge a satellite communication tax on top of sales tax. During AT&T's ownership of DirecTV they locked a lot of this down to ensure people weren't violating tax regulations and that money was going where it was supposed to.
