What is going on?

Been watching football for 55 years, I'm really starting to not be a fan any longer.  I'm sorry to say between Tegna, Direct TV, and the NFL.  I think a good boycott of them all is in order.  Everything now is about money not the fans...   which made it lucrative. 🤔

It has always been about the money. Fans come secondary of course.

NFL thinks they are moving with the times and went streaming only for the NFL Sunday Ticket. That may come back to bite them as streaming is not reliable nationwide because the country's infrastructure is not there yet.

Tegna like other channel owners, primarily local affiliate owners, wants more money every time they negotiate a new carriage agreement. This is regardless of the NFL, and happens with any TV provider (not just DirecTV). However, having the negotiation take place during the NFL's season leans in their favor as they can upset more people to leverage them.

DirecTV is about money as well, however it is to minimize costs. The more their costs go up so do our bills. As such the TV provider (DirecTV or otherwise) doing better in these negotiations works out better for us the customer. Yes they negotiate for themselves, but their business interest better lines up in our (the customer) favor.

With that boycott mindset, might as well just give up on TV all together. No pay TV provider is different in these negotiations and neither is any local channel. You watch a single channel, even antenna TV, then you support a part of what you dislike.
