Your router/gateway is what gives DTV its connection to the internet and refreshes it regularly so something is happening to not allow it to reconnect, Sometimes going into the router/gateway and setting a static address for the DTV receiver helps.
It's now April of 2026 and I still have this problem of my Genie/Gemini combo constantly losing internet connection. Nothing else in my house has this problem. The Direct boxes are within 5 feet of my mesh router an have an excellent signal when they are attached. I ordered a new Genie but the same thing happens with the new one. It's very frustrating having to reconnect almost every day. I reconnected my Apple TV box (which the Gemini was supposed to replace) and it works perfectly. Sounds like DirecTV needs some better wiFi engineers.
I don't know why that would work, but if it does, that negates the whole purpose of having a mesh system. BTW, I have an ATT router ahead of the Orbi which works. I can connect to that router, which is not a mesh, and it still loses connectivity. Make sense?
ok, you need to simplify your network as it appears to your DTV equipment to track down the problem... simply trying this or that is not going to get you to the answer, as also evidenced by how long you have had the problem.
not all mesh systems work well with all hardware.. your system can "confuse" the DTV unit and cause it to try to connect in a way you don''t want and you see a disconnect... that is the basic explanation. (By the way I hate Orbi, i live in a congested WIFI area and they make a mess)
so you have a router with wi-fi in addition to your orbi system? ouch, and not good..
by the way do you have an AirPort or AirPort express or any other apple wifi servers?

How is your DirecTV connected to your internet?
Is this the only device that has issues?
What is the model of your DirecTV box?
Is only one box serving as the connection for your entire setup?
Is your SSID set to hidden?

Try turning off your mesh (disable all but 1 wifi access point)... I'll bet it works.
You don't have an apple router or access point do you?
Ran into both issues myself... if the experiment fixes it, I can explain.
