Gemini Question

I hope I am in the right forum.  We have directv since the beginning, probably over 20 years at least.  We have satellite and then we have our apps we watch from our Sony TV.  My wife says if we get Gemini that we get Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN package free.  It's my understanding that the Gemini is just a box that has all of your apps on it and it wont affect out regular cable tv with directv?  We are a bit older and sometimes change really makes things difficult.  I guess upgrading to the Gemini is free?  I guess I am asking that Gemini wont really change much except we will now access the apps through the box and not through the tv?  Thanks for any help.

You are, @Cobalt1254! The Disney+, Hulu Bundle (with Ads) is only available through DIRECTV's streaming service, which works differently from Satellite. However, most satellite customers with a Signature Package will receive an activation email for ESPN Unlimited by the end of November 2025. Read more here: https://spr.ly/61211ArazN

You got it right with the Gemini Device. You can easily access the streaming apps you love and no more switching back and forth between TV inputs. If you need more help with the upgrade, please contact us DIRECTV Customer Service - Phone Support & Chat Thanks for your loyalty! John, DIRECTV Community Team

So the Hulu Disney package that comes with Gemini has ads?

To clarify that bundle is not for satellite customers but those who subscribe to the streaming service.

Gemini causes a bit of confusion as it can be programmed for the satellite or the streaming service, but is not interchangeable between the two. The channel packages though very similar are not exactly the same.

Traditionally if it has been over 24 months since your last "upgrade" then you would be due for a free one (comes with a 24 month service agreement). However, the Gemini is a Client similar to a Mini Genie so depends on your setup if this would be a good option to consider or not.

What are the models of each box you have currently?

What about those who signed up prior to 4/13/2025 (those who signed up for DIRECTV Stream)? I use an Osprey box in my room.
