My local ABC

I saw on the news this am that the dispute had been resolved with abc Disney.  I haven’t had my abc network for years and was excited to hear that it was resolved.  Only to find out that mission broadcasting still won’t offer abc via direct tv.  I have been considering getting rid of direct tv and going to Hulu because of no abc.  Will this issue get resolved now that you have reached an agreement with Disney?

Why is DirecTV claiming on their tvpromise.com page that there are no channel disruptions in my area when they know for a fact that my local FOX channel has been gone for almost 2 years due to its dispute with Mission Broadcasting?

Yes, you are correct. They used to indicate that they were trying to reach a resolution but now it just says that there are no channel disruptions in my area. I am in the Albany, NY area and the FOX channel is WXXA.

I hear you loud and clear. I obviously don’t have any information about the dispute with Mission, but it almost seems to me like DirecTV has just decided to move on and is no longer even trying to get the Mission channels back. I only say that because, like I mentioned, there used to be something mentioned on tvpromise but now there is nothing, in addition to the fact that the local channel no longer even appears on my DirecTV guide. Instead of seeing a message when you go to that channel about how they are trying to work things out, the channel has now just been removed altogether. Not a good situation if you ask me. To be honest, I’m not sure how much longer I am willing to stick with DirecTV, and I have been with them for 25 years. I totally get that these carriage disputes can happen with all providers, but it sure seems like they happen a lot more frequently with DirecTV these days.

DTV like most TV providers buys the guide data from a third party guide maker so they are the ones that removed it from DTVs guide as the channel is most likely no longer sending it to them.

@shannon02

I’m sure you are right about that, but with all of DTV’s other disputes (and there have been many) this has never happened before. And it wasn’t happening with the Mission dispute either until just recently.

I mean, it’s one thing to simply not mention the Mission dispute on the tvpromise page, but it’s another story altogether when you affirmatively state that there are no channel disruptions going on when you know for a fact that is untrue.
