Forced to buy?

I want to know why lately more and more movies are listed as "buy only" with no rental choice regardless of how old the movie is or what channel.  We pay for all movie channels but the choices are lousy with lots of repeats of sub par movies with a few of the good ones thrown in once in a while.  With what we pay each month equaling an average car payment, we don't even expect to have to pay to rent let alone buy these.  Because we pay so much we rarely rent anything unless it's something new we really want to see and we always wait until it's at a cheaper price.  You think we would waste money on actually buying something?  No way.

DirecTV doesn't decide what movies are "rental" or "buy".  The studios decide that. Often they're available to "buy" first, and then later can be viewed as a Pay Per View movie.

Since it's Directv's customers that these studios are thriving from, it would seem Directv would have some influence on what's happening on the channels their company puts forth to the public, like a better experience for us smucks who shell out a lot of dough every month.  But, alas, customer service and putting us first has never been my experience with ATT or DT.  In fact, even thinking about having to call them for anything upsets me.

AFAIK all TV providers have the same thing.  All DTV does is collect it.  DTV nor any other TV provider has any control over what a channel does with their programming.
