Error code 923.

I keep getting error code 923. It says there's an issue with hard drive and to call 1-800-531-5000. Each time I've called, I've been told to reboot. It works okay for a few hours or a day or two. Then same error comes up. This has been going on for a month or more. I'm tired of calling and being told to reboot no matter how many times I've told them that rebooting only works temporarily.

If by "reboot" you mean red button reset, then you have one other option to try. You can unplug power for a minute (just verify coax is finger tight before powering on). Unlike a regular reset, this dumps memory which may clear what is causing the issue. Since this dumps the guide info, that should be downloaded again within 24 hrs from the satellite.

But if that doesn't fix it, then hard drive is going out and the only recourse is to get a warranty replacement. For that you would need to call DirecTV. At that point just confirm you get the message after reset and power cycle so they should have no choice but to order a replacement.
