connecting via ethernet cable

I am having the hardest time connecting my internet to directv via ethernet cable.  I get the wireless just fine, however many times on demand and playback are very choppy and unwatchable.  I can't even get the wireless symbol removed, so its obviously still connecting thru that route.  Seems like I've tried everything under the sun as far as changing/reconnecting/restarting the network

Hello @zacatack

It's understood that you're experiencing some trouble with on Demand when set up through the wireless option and are looking to connect through Ethernet (hard-wired) connection. We're glad to assist you.

The first thing that you're going to need to do is clear out the current connection. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Press Menu
  2. Scroll down to "Setttings"
  3. Toggle to the right and find "Internet Setup"
  4. Advanced Setup
  5. Reset network
  6. You will see a warning/message "Press the dash button below the number 7 on the remote"
  7. The HD/DVR-Genie server will reset the current set up/connection.

Once the DVR has cleared the current wireless connection from your network, simply connect the Ethernet from your DVR to the router and the DVR should automatically connect to the network from that hard-wired connection.

If it does not connect, go to Menu and choose the "Connect Now" option below settings and follow the prompts for "wired" connection.

If you encounter any further troubles, let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

Same question 4 years later.  Your solution steps don’t work now because menu selections are different.
