Closed Captioning on Direct TV

Closed Captioning has been incomplete.  It will show like every other line.  Used to work. Some channels work - most don't.  (It works on TV for all streaming services so not configuration on tv).  This is very frustrating.  I HAVE rebooted.  Help.  Thanks,

closed captioning gets sketchy if the dialogue being spoken is too fast for the captioning to keep up therefore skipped or incomplete sentences, directv and other providers dont setup or control this, it is the network,directv just broadcasts whats sent to them.

Hi @dj183821, we’ll be happy to help with this closed captioning problem.

 

Since the reset did not help, here are a few other suggestions:

  • Check the Digital track used for CC in the menu.
  1. Press Menu on the remote and navigate to Settings, then Accessibility.
  2. Change the Digital Track to Service 1 if it is not already

 

  • Try changing to DIRECTV Subtitles instead of closed captions.
  1. Press info on the remote and arrow to the right to CC
  2. Select DIRECTV Subtitles from the Dropdown.
