When the network is heavily congested message every night

This started about 2 weeks ago and nothing changed at that time. It's fine all day long then at night I get this heavily congested message and everything freezes. I can't watch live TV nor recorded TV. Usually the only devices using Internet at this time is the TV and my phone. Have to restart everything and sometimes even that doesn't help.

I'm watching using T-Mobile Wi-Fi internet, download speeds of 24 to over 100 mbps. Using the DirecTV stream app on my TCL Google TV.

TV apps (Edited per community guidelines). You would be better off getting an external device. Your internet might be the cause as well. I know TMobile uses cell towers. Might be at night more people are using the cell tower you are on.

I've seen the same problem with people using an external device. I tried getting a stream box but I guess those aren't available anymore.

Jayson will I lose any of my recordings if I clear the data?

Recording are stored on the web, not the device. That is the advantage of a cloud DVR.

@Ludwick577 is correct. It's possible that the congestion is due to high internet traffic from multiple users at night. Clearing the app data won't affect your recordings if you have DIRECTV STREAM or DIRECTV via Internet service, as the recordings are stored online. - Mark, DIRECTV Community Specialist

This is definitely a DirecTV Stream issue. For me it’s happening when trying to view a sporting events. Doesn’t seem to be a problem when viewing non-sporting events. Viewing via the espn app works great so DirecTV don’t try to place the blame on my network.
