DTV App Android phone

When using the DTV Android app on my cell phone I have a black bar on left and right of screen when watching a show, movie, or sport event. Is there a setting to crop the picture to fullscreen ?  Someone said it was fixed along time ago.  I would appreciate if anyone  can help because I seem to not find any fix on this.

Thank you.

Thoses bars are always present unless you have an actual 16x9 screen on your phone. TV screens have a 16 x 9 ratio so the video fills the entire screen. If the phone video was expanded horizontally to fill the entire screen the image would be out of proportion. If it were expanded vertically to fill the screen it would cut the top and bottom off the screen. A fit to screen method is used so you can see the entire video.

Hello, @StreamerUSA. @lou_do is right, you will have a full screen with a 16 x 9 screen device. Christy, DIRECTV Community Specialist

A lot of newer android /iPhones  have a bigger screen and are much larger then 16x9..

Hulu,YTTV, Netflix  all give you option to crop and make fullscreen on newer devices. Direct TV should as well give you this option when using their app..
