What's the best remote OTHER THAN a Gemini for Direct TV Live TV streaming service? (Don't want to pay $120/year for a REMOTE!!!

Hi, We have two TVs and got one Gemini system and remote, which works well but as noted, it's $120/year for that system. I don't want either TV to require Gemini because using two systems would obviously be an additional $240/year. Is there another way to get an easy to use, intuitive, and quality remote that we can BUY that will work well?

Gemini is not a remote. It is DirecTV's streaming box, also a Client for satellite customers (like a Mini Genie). The remote is what you hold in your hand to change the channels.

You can get a traditional streaming box like a Roku or Firestick to download the DirecTV app on. Be aware that only the Gemini gives the normal TV experience with channel numbers.

Hey, @CMcS2. Our Gemini device definitely brings it all together, allowing you to enjoy live TV, movies, streaming apps, and more from one single homepage. In addition to what was shared on this thread, you can check the list of compatible devices with the DIRECTV app here: Streaming devices compatible with DIRECTV | DIRECTV Support

Thanks @Juniper for your insight. Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

Let me try to clarify: I'm trying to find a universal remote that can be programmed to control my TV (with Direct TV Live TV + streaming), my receiver, and Blu-Ray player. I don't care what streaming box we use, whether a Roku, Apple TV, or whatever. I want to be able to power all devices on and off with one click/button, navigate easily, and record programs on our Direct TV DVR account. We have two separate home theater systems; one is a 'smart' TV and the other is not. I'd prefer to use the same brand/model remote with both systems. Is this possible, and if so, what is the best (simplest, most convenient) to use?

You can get a Gemini box (also known as Dtv Stream box or Osprey) from Walmart for 45 dollars. Comes with the same remote as the Gemini Air.

@Ludwick577

Can you get the owned status of the Gemini (for DIRECTV STREAM) when you're on the lease/contract model (DirecTV via Internet)? (or whatever they decide to change the names to on any given day).

I love options for us customers, but boy does the different streaming versions really cause confusion.
