Tech Protect

I called into tech support for help reprogramming my remote to operate my TV volume, on/off and home theater speaker. We have the Tech Protect on our account. Long story short, I was left with the remote being able to operate my TV speakers and the on/off function of the TV. I was told the home theater wasn’t working and to call Bose for assistance. I ended up fixing the issue myself after many hours and help from ChatGPT. Do I or do I not have tech support for Home Theater? There was nothing wrong with the Bose. It was the wrong Code accepted by the technician during remote control programming.

Do I or do I not have tech support for Home Theater?

Is "Tech Protect" the exact name? If so that would not be through DirecTV.

DirecTV has the Equipment Protection Plan, with tier 2 being Premier and Tier 3 with Accidental Damage Handling. Log into your account or look at your bill to verify what exactly you have.

For the details of each of the 3 tiers:

*note* If you do have at least EPP Premier, any qualified non-DirecTV device must be registered on your account.

Good to know, thanks. I need to keep myself abreast of the additional options for streaming customers (defaulted to satellite, my own error).

@jarich828

Apologies, I was not familiar with that other option. You have the one for a streaming-only service (DirecTV via Internet / DIRECTV STREAM). The EPP I mentioned was for the traditional satellite service.

You are probably right that I need to register my devices. I know for a claim I would need to do that. I wish I could have done that when I called into tech support but I’ll see if I can do it online. I guess that’s a clever way to avoid paying out or helping someone since they failed to register.

I know you have to register if you have EPP Premier. Would make sense that Tech Protect would have a similar requirement. Historically it has to be done online as you're filling out the info.

Personally, I don't pay 8.99 a month for Tech Protect. I think it's a waste of money. You can get a Gemini box (Osprey) from Walmart for 45 bucks. Also, I've never had any issues getting free tech support from online or phone agents. Not sure what you'd be paying for --other than equipment replacement.

So about same "value" as the EPP for satellite then?
