Samsung TV and Gemini Air

As documented on multiple sites, Samsung TV and Gemini Air simply do NOT work together.  Got a new QN70F w/ Samsung soundbar (CEC/Anynet) and Gemini Air refuses to work properly whether routed to alternate HDMI In or through Soundbar.  Paired remote both automatically and manually.  All works great on 3 other TVs (2 Vizio, 1 LG).  Consensus is Samsung CEC is peculiar. Purchased CEC Blocker (pin 13 open) between GA and TV, but still a problem.  Remote controls OFF and VOL and all DTV functions but can not turn TV ON.  When TV turned ON with TV remote, still must turn on GA with its remote, and it reboots, sometimes turning off TV.  What is the incompatibility between Samsung and Gemini Air?  How can I resolve it?  This is apparently a well-known and long-standing problem, but I can find no solutions online.

Thanks for reaching out, @wmalexaner. Since you’ve already tried pairing, a fresh reset might help kick-start the connection. First, unpair the remote by holding DASH (–) and APPS until the LED blinks blue twice. Next, tap the button on the back of the Gemini Air to restart it. Once it boots back up, hold FAST FORWARD and REWIND together for 3 seconds to re-pair. If technical assistance is needed, contact us here: DIRECTV Customer Service - Phone Support & Chat Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

Thanks for the response and suggestion.  Unfortunately, that had no effect on the problem.

I called Customer Service.  We were unable to resolve this.  They recommended dropping the GeminiAir and using the on-TV app.  Only penalty is no pure 4K.  I'll give that a try and possibly return the GeminiAir.  This seems to be a Google (AndroidTV) -Samsung protocol conflict.

You might try buying a Gemini box (Osprey) if you like the device/remote feel of the Gemini air. The box also has an hdmi input in the back along with optical and ethernet ports. You can buy them from the Walmart app for 45 dollars. Comes with the same remote that comes with the Gemini Air
