Gemini Remote with LG C4 - doesn’t change input or power off

I’m struggling to reduce the number of remotes we have to use in our setup. In particular, I want the Gemini remote to be our main remote but when I configure it for our LG C4 TV (either going through “Standard” or “Manual” programming) the doesn’t fully work. Namely, the Input and Off buttons don’t switch input or turn the TV off.

is anybody successfully using a Gemini remote with an LG C4?  DirecTV support has been useless and just keeps reading scripts and telling me “not to worry”.

[Reposting because my previous post mysteriously got deleted.]

I'm curious if anybody has a working setup that includes a Gemini Air remote controlling an LG C4 TV?  That's the config I have and the Gemini remote's Input and Off buttons don't correctly control the LG TV when I press them.  I tried contacting Directv's support and they sent me a replacement remote, but it has the same behavior.

Anybody have this config working correctly?

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Gemini Air Remote and LG C4 TV - Anybody have that working?

I have a C2 and while the input part evaded me, enabling HDMI-CEC helped with the power simply because it passed the power command through the Gemini to the C2.

I'll inquire to the input controlling with some peers, but I'm not entirely hopeful. More to come.

Thanks again @Withoutatrace for your responses.  I do have HDMI-CEC enabled, and my AppleTV remote works fine to turn the TV off.  This sure seems like a pretty clear issue on the DIRECTV side of things.  I'd love to know if DIRECTV tests specific sets, and whether the LG TVs are part of that.

To be sure, is it an RC7X series remote?

Just checking as RC6X is before the Genie and have to program the input button separately (don't know why, was always annoying) and the RC8X is exclusive the Gemini Clients.

When you use "standard" mode and the tv screen prompt asks you if the remote muted the volume (or raised it can't remember exactly what it says)---even though it does-----say no-----then move onto the next one and choose yes when it does. That way the remote tries a different code and see if it will work with your other buttons.

@Juniper, I'm talking about the Gemini Air remote.  The model number printed on it is RC4693701.

@Ludwick577, that's a great tip, thank you!  I'm not home right now but will be next week and will definitely give this a try.  I had thought about the fact that it's picking a whole set of behavior based solely on the volume control and had wondered if that would cause problems, but then never connected the dots to try it for my issue!

@RileyTheDog I have a new Hisense tv and it wouldn't control my input button either on the first try using manual and standard. I did the process where it asks you if the volume was changed said no--instead of yes-----went on to the next one ...chose yes then the input button worked.

Apologies, I misread your topic as Genie, not Gemini. Naming can cause confusion, so wanted model numbers to be sure (Gemini RC8X, 2nd gen Genie and up RC7X, 1st gen Genie and older boxes RC6X)

Gemini Air, dongle, is another kettle of fish.

I hope @Ludwick577 's suggestion works as it is a great idea. Much better than the old way of manually putting in code after code to try to find one that works. Instead a workaround to say NEXT!.

Let us know how it goes, good luck.

I'm back at home now, and the results are weird.  I went back through the "Standard" option, said "No" when it asked if the volume changed (doing this many times to test each successive code, none of which actually changed the volume) and none of them worked.  But then I went through it again and on the first test where it did actually change the volume, and now the input button does invoke the TV's input function, and the Off button works.

So this feel squishy to me.  Like maybe it's not always testing the same set of codes in the same order?  Regardless, right at the moment I'm in a state where the gemini will bring up the input selector does work now, although the left/right and select button don't work but just leaving it will eventually select the input.

Yah you have to highlight the input and leave it to change.
