DIRECTTV"S NEW RECORDING DISPLLAY CHANGES

The recent updates to DirecTV's recording system have made it more complicated for users to manage their recordings, with many reporting difficulties in accessing and deleting shows. The new interface has been criticized for being less intuitive and requiring more steps to perform basic functions like recording and deleting episodes. The new program changes is not very user friendly. Now, I have to change the recorded programs for my wife when she wants to view her recordings. With the new system changes,, she's afraid she'll make a mistake and delete her recording. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Please change the viewing screen to vertical from your new horizonal screen.

We value your input, @msims1225. While we're unable to reinstate the list layout on the DIRECTV App's My Library, your feedback will help us enhance our services in the future. Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

@msims1225 , a nice way to separate recordings is to use a Profile for your wife and one for yourself. In that way, the recordings/bookings are separate. Each of you will receive a list/ unlimited recordings, ensuring you won't interfere with each other's work when deleting.

It's actually harder now to delete programs by mistake. I like it.

This new format is horrible! I can't even read what the program is from the place I sit in my living room. I have to get up and go to the TV to see what it says. This is ridiculous and I will be changing my service.

Since the only thing I watch live is the 24/7 news channels everything else is recorded. I have over 100 recordings and my upcoming list is a nightmare. Lol.

The boxes are way too confusing to tell where I’m at with my recordings and what needs to be recorded. Every single day, even before the boxes, I go through the recordings to see what I want to watch when and add to my upcoming recordings. I’m sorry DIRECTV but while they look nice if you record a lot like me, it’s just too difficult. You honestly should be able to give people the choice in settings.

so what I’m forced do now is I go to my ROKU when I’m trying to see what’s what in recordings and upcoming recordings at least once a day. It still has the LIST format, thankfully.

and I agree with ANTEM33 about it being too hard to read from a distance. I also have to get up and go closer to the screen, or again, switch to my Roku.

I chose the more expensive Directv stream over YouTube TV because of their unnecessarily complicated DVR menu. Now you've decided to copy them. I don't disagree with A-Z filter. But with your new tile system, if the icon doesn't tell you what the show is, you have to select it to find out. Now the screen is cluttered and harder to use.

You only need 3 folders:

1.) Recordings by most recent.

2.) Recordings by name.

3.) Deleted recordings folder for those who deleted by accident and want it back (ability to Erase from this folder).

The new format is stupid. Doesn’t even show my most recent recording ls. Go back and quit making dumb changes. Companies try to make things better and end up making them worse. Good job Directv. Way to follow the companies going downhill.

@JJK1954 That just means you haven't received the update yet. They roll out updates to devices. You'll get it in the coming weeks.

We really dislike the new format.  We can’t read the small print on the boxes. We record everything we watch and are considering changing services.  Why can’t we have an option to use the boxes or a list like the old way?   I don’t know anyone who likes this better.  I know you can fix it if you want to. Very disappointing!

The new DVR interface (Edited per community guidelines).  Takes forever to delete recordings, can't read the picture to tell what's recorded.  PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD INTERFACE!!!

Not only is the new library setup awful, all my recordings before the update are gone, only shows that recorded since the update show the episodes recorded pre update once the newest episode recorded.  I lost 9 months of library history.  Strangely, 2 movies I recorded almost 9 months before the update popped back up when there was 2 days remaining before the 9 month date reminding me to watch them before they were gone.
Additionally, fast forwarding and rewinding OFTEN hangs and not just for a few seconds.  At least twice a day, I have to exit out of the show, open another video or go to a live show before I can reopen the recorded show I was watching.
I’ve had to reset the Roku a few times since the update due to sound not working (not new just happening more often) so resetting isn’t going to fix anything in case that’s the suggestion.  Also I just got a new backlit remote  earlier this year so it’s not an old remote causing issues.  If these issues aren’t addressed (notably the missing recordings and rewind/fast forward) by years end, l’ll investigate a new streaming service in January.

There also doesn’t appear to be a way to delete all recorded episodes of the same series with one click as you used to be able to do.  Maybe you need some new QA staff or maybe they’re afraid to question anything. I can’t imagine who thought these changes were a good idea.
