Can I press the microphone on the remote and say “Fox News”?

My dad has difficulty using buttons on the remote.  He wants to be able to press the microphone button and say things like “Fox News”, or “CBS”, or “ABC”…. Will this work if I am using the DirecTV box and associated remote?
