Best universal remote for my 95 year old mother
The remote we were given when we got direct tv is small and complicated for my mother who has impaired vision. She can’t see the remote info and can’t use the remote. I am looking for a remote that is large and easy to use. She has a Samsung tv and our direct tv doesn’t have a box. There’s a box in back of the tv that is plugged into the HDMI but it’s not visible from the front of the tv. She only uses volume and up and down control and to be able to cut the tv on and off. She has about 15 channels that she uses and never any apps ie Netflix or Hulu. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out, @pbleach55. We want to make sure your mom has the seamless TV experience possible. If you're using our DIRECTV Gemini Air device, it connects via Bluetooth rather than standard infrared. This means third-party large-button universal remotes cannot pair with it to control channels.
You can bypass the small buttons by using the Google Assistant voice command feature on the standard DIRECTV remote. Here's how to make her TV time stress-free:
- The Microphone Button: Locate the dedicated Mic/Google Assistant button on her standard remote.
- One-Touch Control: She just needs to press and hold the Mic button and speak clearly, bypassing all menus.
- Simple Commands: She can control everything hands-free by saying: "Tune to Channel", "Go to channel", "Turn up the volume", or "Turn off the TV"
