DTV denied me a streaming account based on violating TOS based on a problem they created

DTV sat. for decades but decide to switch to streaming.

I am two weeks in with SIX HOURS on the phone trying to sign up.

Summary:

-Cannot get past payment page so I call CS. They learn I have sat. so they transfer me to the "migration" department who are in the USA. These folks seem knowledgeable, and they are.

-Two hours on the phone and he can't figure out why the constant error message. He is chatting with the"back office" during all this and they are giving him ideas. We try different emails and credit cards. It is late and he says call tomorrow maybe someone different can figure it out.

-I call the next day and unbelievably the next guy works in the same office and has chatted with the first guy. We try the same things with slight variations and no luck. Two hours again. He says someone will call back in 72 hours.

-No one calls back so I call and get another rep. She is confident she can fix this (they all were), and we try different things including an alternate program which requires a hard credit pull which I passed. No luck. Another two hours on the phone. She says someone will call back.

-Guy calls back. He is with "advanced solutions" AKA the back office. He takes my cc info manually and says he will give it to finance to bypass the error message. Someone will call back.

-Yesterday I get the call back from another person. Finance has denied my account (which I never had except for the free account) for violating TOS by having multiple accounts.

The issue here is when these reps were signing me up it was creating a free account each time. I was getting the welcome emails even though we did not get past the payment screen. They recognized this but could not delete them and did speculate this could be the problem.

Any ideas for a next step?

File a BBB complaint.

Next step is a BBB complaint. This gets forwarded to the corporate level usually getting you contact from their "Office of the President" within a few business days. Something odd is going on with the account setup so hopefully they can sort it out.

As a note, there is no migration from satellite to streaming. They are separate providers. You could even have both. You would cancel one and start the other if you only want one of them.

The migration plan allows a 14 day streaming trial instead of 5. If no action is taken streaming converts to paid and satellite is cancelled, BUT you can keep both if you want and decide this when you set up the account.

That's the planned experience.  But you're getting the actual experience.

"That's the planned experience.  But you're getting the actual experience."

Fair point.
