DirecTV Sign Up problem

Hello all.

I have recently attempted to sign up for DirecTV Stream, but I have encountered a ton of issues trying to do so.

My payment showed up as declined, so I gave support a call and they said that they were getting the same error, so I contacted the FCC support to try and get this error off my account. I got contacted by the office of the president who told me that my house is on the Negative List, which means I won’t be able to sign up for DirecTV stream services, but I can sign up for Satellite, which I don’t want to.

The Office of the President told me nobody could take me off this list, and that there is nobody I can contact to regarding this list. I am thinking that the previous owner of my house has an outstanding debt or something like that which is now preventing me from being able to sign up for DirecTV, and I think this because there is an old satellite dish on  the house that was there when I originally moved in.

So please, is there anyone that I can contact or that can reach out to me to help me out? I would love to sign up for the service.

That is a rather bad situation. The Office of the President is their corporate level, essentially as high as we customers can go.

A previous resident/tenant with bad debt, fraud concerns, etc., are typical situations that get an address on the list (sometimes for just satellite or stream, but not both). Being told there is nothing you can do to get off the list seems not quite right to me.

I would resubmit a complaint with both the FCC and BBB. You may need to provide some proof that you are the current resident, not associated with whomever got the address placed on their naughty list. Not saying this dispute will be easy, but the corporate response shouldn't have been "you're at the end of the road".

You can also check the Terms of Service (ToS) for options to mail in a more formal dispute if needed.

Though this is doesn't seem like someone opened service in your name, it sounds like you are being penalized for an account that isn't yours. You could look into www.directv.com/notmyaccount if using their normal fraud dispute policy might go the right chain of authority for you.

Wish I could give you the best route, but I hope any of the suggestions will help find you a resolution. Please do share any further info you get, or ideally this solved. Good luck.
