3 days with Direct TV Stream, and my personal information is already leaked
Hello all, just signed up with DirectTV Stream 3 days ago, and my account info has already been leaked. I received a call from 833-676-2550 saying "You AT&T Direct TV existing account is qualified for 50% off... call us back at 833-676-2550" for details." I called back, and was offered a great 50% discount, 1 year payment up front, and no contract. The only hitch is to pay, via this special promotion via eBay, by using eBay card. Instruction was to go to store, buy eBay card, and pay the bill at 844-769-9960. I called back DirectTV's customer support and learned that there's no current offer as such. Appreciate the validated info, BUT most concerning is that I just signed up with DirectTV, how could my info been already leaked out. I asked customer support to escalate to a manager, and, of course, I was disconnected right away. Not sure about staying on with Direct TV any longer. Very concerning...

DirecTV and direcTV stream are two completely different services. The spam call you got is typically aiumed at DirecTV satellite customers. And lots of people who don't have DirecTV satellite get these calls. It does not mean your account info has been hacked.

I’ve been getting similar phone calls. I’m glad I checked the forum. The voice sounds real, but the wording is not typical of everyday English. Thanks for sharing. I’m glad I check this forum.

Truly frustrating and disappointing experience. To clarify, this is related to DirectTV stream, and a package via AT&T internet. My phone is via a separate provider.

As previously noted - it's a scam. Just ignore phone deals. Nothing good ever happens.

This is a scam. You are never called for discounts, and certainly are never required to pay months ahead of time by an eBay gift card (the equivalent of untraceable cash).
The scam is mainly aimed at DirecTV which is the satellite provider. Very likely they don't know you are a customer until you confirm it. As DirecTV is one of the biggest providers out there, call enough people and you will get someone who has it. And then of course any profiling they have built up on the "dark web" as too many people are not careful with their information.
And remember the DirecTV brand has only a single T and no spaces. If you see letters, websites, etc. that say Direct TV or DirectTV or any other variation, then they are full out scams or at "best" a 3rd party retailer.
