What DVR/Receiver model number do you have? Modern DirecTV boxes should simply be connected via the HDMI cable.

My TV’s have been doing this suddenly. One is an Amazon Fire TV which is connect via HDMI to the main receiver. The other is a LG also connected via HDMI. Neither TV has the capability to connect via component cables. The fact that Direct TV has the audacity to even have a message suggesting this is an option instead of a HDMI is ridiculous. They need to figure out why this is happening. I pay way too much money to not be able to watch what I am paying for!

It is HDCP that the content makers require that is causing this,  When the software is updated then DTV adds it to the next upgrade however the TVs also need to be updated and some TV makers stop updating their software after a few years. Most TVs that are connected to the internet are updated automatically if there is a new version available.   DTV has no control over HDCP or the TV makers to update their software.

My tv are newer and up to date. And that does not explain why wiggling the HDMI on the TV connected to the main receiver or rebooting the main receiver when it happens to that TV fixes it. This only occurs after lifting the main receiver to clean under it. The only thing that has changed with the LG tv is that I rearranged furniture and the position of the mini box changed and that is when this started occurring. I have 2 other TV’s connected via HDMI and it has never happened(knock on wood) after moving or cleaning around the receiver. Funny the oldest TV works the best.

Try replacing the HDMI cables.  DTV may send you some if you contact them.
