Turn off TV but keep receiver on With RC73

I just replaced two RC73 remotes with new ones. The old ones would turn the TV both on and off with the ON button and leave the receiver on. The new ones will only turn off the TV with the OFF button, which also turns off the receiver and looses the buffering. I know I can turn off the TV with the TV removed but it was much more convenient to just use the one DTV remote. I have tried going through all the 24 Sony codes but can’t replicate the original setting. The old remote still works as I want it to. Is there any way to turn off the TV with the RC73 and leave the receiver on?

Yes, you can. @Mbevis. The RC73 remote is designed to control both the TV and receiver simultaneously with the ON and OFF buttons. Please try to reset and reprogram the remote to your TV, here's how: How to Program a DIRECTV Remote Control | DIRECTV Support If further assistance is needed, let us know; we also have a specialist available to help. Hi Rizza. Thank you for responding. Please read my post again to understand the question. My new remote is programmed to my TV so that isn’t the issue. I would like my new remote to behave as my previous one did. With the old one if I pushed the ON button it would turn off the TV but leave the receiver on. That way no buffer was lost on the receiver. The new one will not turn off the TV if I push the ON button. I have to push the OFF button which turns off both the TV and the receiver. I don’t want the receiver to turn off. I know that I can use the TV remote to do this, but I would like not to have to rely on two remotes. Thank you.
