Have you tried the TVs remote?  This maybe a message from the TV.

I'm having the same problem, nothing works to get off this screen.. we don't even have internet

If you turn off the DirecTV box is the message still there? (just to check if it is from the TV and not the receiver).

What model box?

Have you done either a red button reset or even unplugging power from the DirecTV box for a couple minutes?
