Satellite is ethernet connected, still says NO INTERNET
My satellite (HDR54-500) is hard wired directly to my router/modem. It is also set up that way in my settings menu. I have
MY QUESTION:
1. Why does my satellite always tell me my receiver is not connected to the internet. I do not have a wireless connection because the signal is pitiful and I do not want to depend on it for internet.
2. Am I getting all the "internet" good stuff with a hard wired internet?

Model is HR54 (not HDR). That is the 3rd generation Genie (Whole Home HDDVR).
Where does it say you are not connected to internet? If it is when you check your account online, that is an ongoing issue and is just a listing error. It does not affect the functionality. But if it says it in the menu of your Genie, then that needs to be further looked into.
Being connected to internet gives you access to On Demand. Many channels have a library of their movies and shows, plus some additional PPV content. Also there is a feature "signal saver" that means if your signal to the satellite has an issue it can try and grab the program from the internet so you can continue watching.
The Genie does have built-in WiFi that supports both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. But if cannot get a good connection to your router that way, then certainly stick with wired.

Could be the routers antivirus/firewall or the proper ports are not open to allow the HR54 to connect to the internet.
