Pre-Install Planning

Hello, I'm opening a new sports bar in August and will be installing DirecTV Business. Given my background in structured cabling and A/V, I'm preparing for the TV installations. My plan is to mount the DirecTV receivers directly behind each television.

To ensure the optimal setup, I need to confirm the required cabling at each TV location. Should I anticipate needing:

  • One (1) coax cable and one (1) Cat6 cable, or

  • Just one of the two?

I've encountered conflicting information and was unable to get a definitive answer from DirecTV regarding the specific receiver models. My goal is to ensure the infrastructure supports the best playback possible scenario.

All business accounts will get non recording H25 (non 4K) or H26K (4K) receivers that only need one rg6 solid copper core coax cable.  DTV CSRs mainly deal with residential accounts so don't know what business accounts get as that is handled by the business dept.   IIRC the H25 needs an antenna dongle for RF use behind a TV.  You should call the business number for more info.
