Pairing request

Since I got the new Genie's (YUK), my TV's turn on randomly by themselves and display the screen "pairing request" with a number. Not sure why, but I have to unplug my Genie's before going to bed.

I had some issues with the system getting RF and IR commands at the same time.

On a Gemini, you can see this for yourself, on and off make both the red (IR) and the blue (bluetooth) LEDs light (at the top of the remote).

Weird that you are getting the pairing request, but you say "Genies" and "TVs" both in plural, so there are 2 of each?

Maybe one client (Genie Mini or Gemini) is "hearing" the wrong remote?\

These are the newest Direct TV receivers. They have not performed well.

So are they Genie Mini's or Gemini?

One has the apps (netflix, prime, hulu), and APPS button on lower right of remote control, also has ethernet jack - that is Gemini

The other looks similar, but does not have apps, and lower right button is ENTER, and usually black and white in color, gemini remote is usually all black.

Makes a big difference in how many remotes can connect to how many "clients"

The newest...with the apps.  Gemini.

I have DTV Stream.  I've been getting that a LOT of pairing requests also lately on 3 TV's.  Two LG's and one Samsung.  I thought it was the LG because it said "webos" is trying to pair.  Could it be one or all of my DTV Stream boxes?  Whatever it is, it wakes me up at night because it turns on all my TV's, which is so very weird.

golden: so you have the Gemini, which like to run in Bluetooth mode, how many do you have, and are you perhaps using one remote with the "wrong" Gemini?

Since this remote is paired to "its" own Gemini, but still sends out IR commands as well as Bluetooth, I'm wondering if a "foreign" remote is telling one of your Geminis that it is not paired and that is what is happening.

(because that remote is already paired with a different Gemini, not the one in the room).

A theory, but based on more and more observation of my own system.

@gregeusa One would assume the the IR/Bluetooth lights come on as they are both needed to turn on/off the Bluetooth Gemini and IR TV.

Uhh... we have been through this a bit... I have studied it... only certain commands like on and off do both interfaces. Agreed, and stated before.

But that is not the point, the point is that perhaps the Gemini is getting both signals, i.e. "sees" the IR, but does not receive the "matching" bluetooth. It might surmise that the remote needs to be paired.

I hope that clarifies what I stated before.

The Gemini when paired to a remote with Bluetooth it only responds to the Bluetooth codes even though it is also getting IR codes

Great comments, but my problem is still not solved. Why do my TV’s randomly turn on in the rooms? I can’t believe there is not a solution to this!

Shannon, that is true, but again you are missing the point. Please re-read what I wrote (twice).

golden: I asked you a question and you did not respond...

here it is again:

"golden: so you have the Gemini, which like to run in Bluetooth mode, how many do you have, and are you perhaps using one remote with the "wrong" Gemini?'

With the TVs turning on randomly, I would verify two things. Make sure the TV if it has it that the HDMI-CEC is turned off and that nothing is plugged into a 'smart' power strip. Just to be sure power or control settings are not interfering (as they don't always work well with DirecTV equipment.

The Gemini, though not a Genie itself, does function similar to a Mini Genie as they are both Clients of the main Genie.

goldenrescue.  I also cannot figure out what's happening.  Samsung TV and LG TV's turning on by themselves with a "pairing request".  Since I have an LGC148" in my bedroom and have everything set to turn off after 3 hours, then it turns back on automatically later and wakes me up, I've had to resort to the following.  I had to put 3 of my TV's, Gemini Devices, and Roku's on a power strip.  Then at bedtime, I run around and turn OFF all the power strips.  So far, my bedroom TV has not turned on.  But not knowing for sure what the problem is and having to turn everything off on the strips is a huge inconvenience.

I just wish someone had the answer.

So I'm not the only one with the problem with no solution!
