Is one of the tuners going bad?
One out of every dozen recordings has a bit of sputtering, pixelation, hiccoughing — the kind of interference you might get in bad weather; more annoying than unwatchable. Just once has a program been unwatchable. Always different channels. No real pattern but it is happening more and more. One time there was a small red line running from top to bottom every 30 seconds like in the old days of VCR recordings with an old tape. Is this the beginning of end for hard drive (Genie) or a tuner or ???

Perhaps but a few things to check.
What model is the box having the issue?
Verify coax is finger tight.
Red button reset.
Can unplug power for a couple minutes, but guide data will have to download again.
Any other problems?

Is this the 2nd generation Genie (HR44) or Genie Lite (H44) with DVR upgrade kit?
If you do the power cycle, guide should be fully back within 24-48hrs. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the help, Juniper. Everything has worked fine for three weeks. I unplugged the Genie and unplugged the SWM. Waited a few minutes and plugged in boxes. Recording issue has not resurfaced so far.
