H24 Receiver Needs Replaced
Hi,
I have an H24/100 receiver and the power input is worn out (need to jiggle the cord to get it to work and DO NOT touch it after it does) and the Coax input for the satellite cable is also worn out and needs replaced. I use this unit in my RV, so I configure it to a multiswitch when I am on the road and SWiM when I am at home.
Is there any way to get a replacement, or do I need an electronics professional to replace these two items on the circuit board?
If I get another receiver that has an access card, can I just call and deactivate the bad unit and activate the replacement unit?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Here to help, @peachfuzz27. Yes, you can request a replacement, and you have the option to self-install it or request a technician. Also, the replacement receiver comes with its own access card. Sending you a DM now; a specialist is ready to help. John, DIRECTV Community Team

You call DirecTV and a warranty replacement is $19.95 delivery (or covered if you are paying for the equipment protection plan). This is same model or newer which means a chance of H25 that is SWM-only.
Boxes are not owned so you cannot just get another one from elsewhere. Authorized retailers may only provide for the one-time lease cost, which is $99 for HD non-DVR (minimum as some have started increasing their costs per legacy equipment). Comes with 24 month service agreement.
If you have an older box that was on the account, it should be recycled (if they didn't want it back). DirecTV stopped reactivating boxes a long time ago, shortly after purchase to own options were discontinued.
Access cards are paired to their unit and may not be swapped between boxes.
(edit: correction HD non-DVR is $99, HDDVR is $199. Sorry, too used to HDDVR being the request)

when the tech came out to replace my OLD receiver that was dying with a new one, he took the OLD receiver with him. I offered to take to get recycled, but said he was required to take OLD one. just an FYI.

A warranty replacement is drop shipped, not tech installed. Tech install is optional and is $99 instead.
As there were issues in past where techs didn't take a box back and customer got a non-return fee, I would not be surprised if more techs just follow standard swaps regardless of model to be safe. Customer can't do anything with the box anyway, so the company taking possession is just the easier way.
If the box is returnable, you would have instructions on the free return. However non-SWiM boxes have been non-returnable for some time. Some Genies and Mini Genie Clients are even earlier enough models to not be returned.
H24 is the last non-SWiM HD non-DVR. For a drop ship, highly unlikely they would start requiring it to be returned. But you can hold onto it for a couple months to be sure there is no mention of a non return fee (NRF).

@Juniper oh, they shipped a new receiver, but since I have the coverage, they sent someone to install. I was going to do myself, but DTV said no, tech will install. it all worked out.

Having coverage doesn't guarantee a tech. If box needs replacing it should just be drop shipped as you just plug it into the TV like a VCR, DVD player, game console, etc. and the coax in of course.
Tech should only be sent if issue is considered to be beyond the box itself, which if they on site narrow down it was just the box, then of course they do the swap. Sending a tech when already determined it was the box was not a proper order, but if it worked for you than all good I guess.
The cost of delivery $19.95 and tech $99 are one time costs. Over time you pay way more than that with even the basic protection plan. If you need to use those services multiple times every year to make it worth it, than there is something seriously wrong with your setup.
