HR54-500 main box (Mar 2019), three Genie minis C41W-199 (dates Aug 2013 - Jun 2018), Satellite/router box BGW210-700 (Apr 2017), and V Bridge WVB2RO-34 (Apr 2017).
I noticed one forum post that indicated he/she decided to stay with similar set up rather than going with newer equipment. I'm not having any particular issues - other than partial closed captioning constantly. I'm somewhat non-tech so if I choose to switch to newer will DTv do the set-up under my basic protection plan?
You have the 3rd generation Genie and 3 wireless Mini Genie Clients. That is a very current setup. The wireless video bridge (WVB) is just what connects the wireless minis to the main box.
The BGW210 is not a satellite box. That would be your AT&T Internet Gateway (modem/router combo unit).
If your tuners and recording space are fine, then there is no upgrade.
Personally I would want HDDVRs instead of Mini Genie Clients for dedicated tuners, recording space, and can work even if the main box doesn't. Unfortunately, AT&T pushed DirecTV away from dedicated boxes as they wanted a simple all-in-one setup (better for the business, less flexible for customers).
If you were concerned about recording conflicts or running out of space, then you could consider the Genie-2 (HS17). It is a Headless Server tower, meaning it doesn't go on a TV. That would put a Mini Genie in place of the HR54. The Genie-2 has 7 tuners (HR54 has 5) and 2TB recording space (HR54 has 1TB) so is a small upgrade. You lose Picture in Picture (PiP). Anything you already have recorded does not transfer. It is on the same software as the HR54.
Satellite tech doesn't advance quickly so you don't gain much with newer equipment.
The Genie-2 (HS17) has 7 effective tuners (recording and watching channels you're tuned into). Tuners beyond the 7 are not available for use (at least currently, so unsure if future proofing).

The latest models are the HS17 Genie2 and C61 or C71KW mini clients.

Are you asking about software updates to your boxes? If so, is there an issue?
Or are you referring to an equipment upgrade compared to your current setup?
