directtv stream and satelite

hi I just got the satellite installed and added the HD client CK 71 so that I can watch HD and better quality channels. So do I basically have the Direct Tv stream service and an additional satellite service? So like what's the point of the satellite if as I understand everything that SEEMS to be coming out of the CK 71 is via Internet. Am I paying for two services and benefits also having a satellite have

The C71KW can stream other streaming services. If you have sat service then you also have a Genie for the C71KW to work.

DirecTV only provides boxes that are HD. Non-HD boxes haven't been provided since late 2015.

I believe you mean C71KW (as there is no CK 71). That would be the Gemini which is a new Client for DirecTV. In addition to being a Client of your Genie receiver (or Genie-2 Headless Server tower), it has the capability to download apps similar to traditional streaming devices (Roku, Firestick, etc.).

If the tech installed the Gemini, then that is a Client of your main Genie/Genie-2 box for your satellite service. You would only be paying for a single service.

However, if you ordered the Gemini standalone (such as from their website), so not functioning as a Client of your satellite box, then you did that through DIRECTV STREAM/DirecTV by Internet as that would be loaded with firmware for the streaming-only option. If this is the case, then you are paying for a second service.

So comes down to was the Gemini (C71KW) on your order for satellite that tech installed, or did you get that elsewhere and hooked it up yourself?

The Gemini (C71KW) as not added for HD. All boxes are HD. It has been about a decade since you could order non-HD boxes.

That Gemini is your Client box for TV. Installed by tech so is part of your satellite service. It gets the connection from your Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) or Genie-2 (HS17). It is part of your satellite service so you are not paying double. It was provided and installed by the tech and was on the same order correct?

Go into parental controls. You can set rating limits for TV shows, movies, and other. In addition to that, you can specifically block Adult. I would also update your favorites list to remove any channels you don't get in the first place as well as ones you do but don't watch.

However, the Gemini is a streaming capable device. So if connected to your home internet as well as the satellite I do not know how it handles the apps you can download.
