DirectTV remote not working with LG soundbar

Shortly after updating my DirectTV remote the LG Sound Bar stopped working. 

Only way to get audio was to turn off the LG soundbar and use the LG TV audio. 

Any time I touch the volume control on the DirectTV remote the LG soundbar activates and goes mute. The only way to get audio is to turn off the LG soundbar and use the LG TV remote. 

I was prompted to update the DirectTV remote after I changed the batteries. 

I am using the remote that came with the new DirectTV streaming receiver which I started piloting over a year ago.
