Direct TV Reciever R22-200 just conked out. Family member ordered a R22-100 as a replacement. Wondering if this dish is compatible?
Hey, same as title. Box stopped working, trying to find an replacement but the R22-200 is scarce. Can anyone be willing to give some advice. We're currently getting a 755 error code with the new box.

R22-200 and R22-100 are identical. Just different manufacturers. Where did you get this box? How did you have it authorized to your account?

The -200 and -100 just means who made it for DirecTV. The boxes are to the exact same specs. No difference.
A box is not just plug an play. It also requires calling DirecTV to activate a box you got from an authorized source.
DirecTV stopped reactivating used boxes years ago. The R22 is extremely legacy, listed as an SDDVR (even though it is MPEG-4/HD capable). That means your family member either is buying an old box in an 'owned' status that is not permitted to be reactivated, or more likely a box in a 'leased' status that was so old the prior user didn't need to return (or worse is actually stolen).
This is unfortunate as the R22 was a great model. I cannot even reactivate mine anymore on the account if I have one of my current boxes go out.
If your box was provided in a traditional 'leased' status (as in you didn't pay something like $399 to DirecTV to get it owned), then I would see if DirecTV would do a warranty replacement. That would be $19.95 delivery and hopefully would be an HR24 (if any were in stock as that is the closest equivalent they would have).
In case DirecTV cannot warranty replace the box (as marked as SDDVR and SD-only service was no longer offered a decade ago), what are the models of all your existing boxes? (not counting the one you tried to use). Will give the best guidance we can knowing what your setup is.
Sorry, I know this is not the response you were hoping for. Their equipment procedures, and the direction for what kind of equipment is available, has greatly changed over the years. We do the best we can within the current options.
