connecting gemini and dvd genie to Sony TV and Sony receiver

What model Genie? Slightly different connection options between models.

HR 54-700 and a gemini wired

Is this colocated as you don't connect both to the same TV.

Are the Genie and Gemini on separate TVs (traditional setup), or are they co-located on the same TV (new option when HR54 is on a 4K TV)?

I have gemini connected to dvr gemoni to tv or so I think

DTV receivers can't be connected together.  The HR54 is the DVR, the Gemini is a mini client.

I have had it on same TV for awhile but I got a NEW SONY RECEIVER STR 1000 AND BUYING NEW SONY BRAVIA 7 TV HAVE AN OLDER SONY SMART TV 2017

AFAIK DTV has turned off the HR54 audio/video output on collocated units so the easiest way to connect the Sony receiver is using the digital optical audio Toslink from the Gemini to it.       

HR54 can be connected to passthrough to a Gemini Client on the same TV, as opposed to having Genie and 4K Mini Genie separately connected to same TV.

This is not a case of two DirecTV receivers. Both products use the same term.

HR54: Genie (receiver)

C71KW: Gemini (Client)

Sony audio receiver.

OK CAN I GET A STEP BY STEP DIRECTION OF HOW THIS ALL SHOULD BE CONNECTED OR IS THERE A BETTER EQUIPMENT OR WAY TO ENJOY DIRECT TV AND MY RECORDED SHOWS.

Gemini connected to the TV with an HDMI cable, a digital optic cable you need to buy connects to the Sony receiver.

Thanks for your help. I got things going after connecting gemini and genie as directed colocated by going then  hooked up ARC from TV to receiver but no sound so then went into settings of both to be sure ARC was activated. This resolved all.
