What's the model number of your main DirecTV DVR? Do you have a satellite cable connection at the new box?

The C71KW is the Gemini Client. Must have a Genie (such as HR54) or the Genie-2 (HS17).
If drop shipped as additional, then it is expected you are connecting by the wireless video bridge (WVB). That is an external box for the regular Genie line, but the HS17 has one built in.
Range between Gemini and WVB is up to 80 feet under ideal conditions.
You will pair it to the main Genie/Genie-2 like any Mini Genie Client.
Follow the instructions that got linked by the official response.
Note: If this was supposed to be wired, then that should have been a tech install instead of just shipping you the box as requires coax to be run to that TV location.
