4k tv

I have a hr54-700 and just bought a new 4k TV.  What do I need to do to get 4k on the TV?

1) Find some 4K content.

2) Get a 4K-capable client, the HR54 will record, but not display, 4K.

Is that your only TV? If not, what are your other boxes? Matters for exact setup options.

TV must be at least HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, and 60 FPS and it is tech install.

Get a Gemini added to your HR54 -700 and it will upscale everything to 4k

If this is your only TV, you would need to co-locate a 4K Client, either a Mini Genie (C61K) or the new Gemini (C71KW) with the HR54. That box does not output 4K to the TV as requirements changed when it was too far into production. If you have multiple TVs then the Client goes on the 4K TV and the HR54 goes on your other TV.

Second option is "upgrading" your Genie to the Genie-2 (HS17) with 4K. This is a Headless Server so feeds Clients to any TV you have. Unlike all boxes before it, regular HDDVRs are not allowed. The benefit is that it has a 2TB hard drive with 7 tuners compared to the 1TB and 5 tuners of your HR54. Recordings do not copy over from your old box. Can be a reasonable option for those that only have 1 or 2 TVs. Also it supports 2 TVs using a 4K channel at the same time where the HR54 can only handle 1 at a time.
